Thomas Nepveu to Participate in his first Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup Races this Thursday

The Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup North America (PCCNA) season finally kicks off this week at Sebring International Raceway. This will be the first time that Oka native Thomas Nepveu will race with the #24 All Rem | Richelieu | Cromwell car, prepared by McElrea Racing.

However, this won't be Thomas' first time behind the wheel of his new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup, as he was able to do some testing earlier this year, first at NOLA Motorsports Park in Louisiana and then at Sebring last week. "We've made a lot of progress since our first test at NOLA," said Thomas. "I have had time to get to know the car and the team, and we're working very well together."

In the official Porsche Deluxe Carrera Cup testing sessions, Thomas completed more than 100 laps at Sebring, setting the 6th and 7th fastest times in the 2nd and 4th Pro class sessions. "I'm familiar with the Sebring track as I have driven the track in a formula car, but I've been learning it again in a touring car. The driving is different, but I have adapted quickly."

He went on to say, "It's been a steep learning curve but McElrea Racing has greatly contributed to my progress. Thanks to their meticulous and methodical approach, I think it's realistic to aim for a Top 5, or even a podium, in my first Porsche Cup event."

The first two races of the season will be held in conjunction with 'Super Sebring', the week in which the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship series celebrates the 12 Hours of Sebring, and the World Endurance Championship (WEC) will be completing the 1000 miles of Sebring. The Porsche Carrera Cup races will be held on Thursday, March 16th. The first race will be at 9:15 AM, followed by the second race at 5:35 PM. They will be broadcast on IMSA's YouTube channel, or on IMSA.tv.
